The action genre codes and conventions
Technical
The action genre has technical codes and conventions to build
up the tension and suspense which are main aims allocated in action genre. The
technical codes and convention are camera shots and techniques; for example low
lighting are based on an evil character and light lighting is placed on the
good character in an action genre. As well as in an action genre shots are
usually at a fast pace, ensuring there is a lot of action in a film. Lastly
there is a lot of close up shots located in an action film, this is due to the
high amount of different emotions in this type of film.
Symbolic
Also in an action film it has symbolic codes and conventions
to build up an enigma code; clothing and colours, therefore allow people to
know that it is an action genre. For example Blood on an actors clothing allows
the audience to know that there is fighting action, as well as the clothing at
the start of a film is immaculate, and at the end of the film there clothing
becomes torn and dirty.
Written/audio
As well as in an action film the writing and audio is
specifically based to the genre of a film. For example an action film is
directly identified to have dramatic and fast paced music to pin point out the
action in the movie. Lastly the context in the film is very well spoken and
technical, this is due to being connected to an action genre.
