Dawn of the dead
The dawn of the dead opens with a close up shot on the door
and tracking shot on a specific photo and bedroom. This therefore presents an
enigma code off who is behind the door. Furthermore the tracking shot inherits
an eerie atmosphere, informing the audience that the film is a horror genre.
After that match on action is used on the door swinging open. This shot has a
dramatic effect on the audience, setting a frightening but intriguing mood as
the enigma code is answered, through a dark figure of a little girl stands in
the doorway.
A diegetic growling sound, is followed by a close up of the
little girls deformed face. A mise en scene of blood applied to her face is
also shown, in which these properties engage a unsettling and agitated atmosphere
towards the audience. Furthermore, this also sets an enigma code of how is this
innocent girl now a deformed scary possession. As well as, all micro elements
are taken away as the girl then sprints in the direction of her parents. The
silence then intrigues horrendous sense of fear throughout the audience,
contributing the aspects of a horror genre.
