The opening scene starts with black scene to give a sinister feel so the audience feel nervous as they are unable to work out what happens next. Suddenly a dark, old and ery film from long time ago of four people get hung from a tree this is an enigma codes. Bags over the head and hung up to a tree suggests that what has happened was prepared. The four people which look like family are raised in the air this gives a sister look and feel to the film. The opening scene is like a big enigma code as the audience members are unsure on what is happening and how four people got hung on a tree brunch but this means they will have to watch and find out; this makes audience most intrested in the film as they want to find out what happens next. The diegetic sound shows the film being played was made years ago as you can here the tape rolling. Also it has the backing music to give the effect something is going to happen to the people.
